Base End Station B2 S2 for Battery 291
Searchlights No. 19 and No. 20

The Base End Station B2 S2 for Battery 291 was completed. It was a two room concrete structure raised six feet on concrete stilts located at the highest point of Ataku Island. Searchlights No. 19 and No. 20 had temporary wood-frame shelters. The planned splinter-proof concrete shelters were not completed. The Distant Electric Control (DEC) station atop a timber tower was not built for these lights.

Today the B2 S2 station is still perched at the highest point on Ataku Island. The remains of the wooden searchlights sheds are covered by grass. There are many collapsed Quonset huts and wooden buildings in the vicinity of the base end station.
