SCR-296 (targeting radar) for Battery 292.

The SCR-296 radar station on Abalone Island was completed and manned through 1944. The footings for the 75 foot steel tower were constructed at the highest point of the island.  The antenna for the radar was disguised as a water tower.  A large steel building housed the radar operators. At least one separate diesel power house existed to power the radar. The radar would be used to target the guns for Battery 292 in times of low visibility.

Today, the four concrete footings remain on Abalone Island. The radar operator building and separate power house are collapsed.
